Help for the Fun Fear board game on iPad
Something not working, or a rule you cannot settle? Email [email protected] and say which iPad you have and what happened.
How do you play?
Walk your counter round the edge of the board. Land on a booth nobody owns and you may pay what it is worth and turn over any one card in the middle. If it matches the booth you are standing on, it is yours. If it does not, it goes back face down in the same place — so watch where it was. Land on somebody else's booth and you pay them. At the end, the most money wins; the booths themselves are worth nothing.
The full rules are in the game. Tap Rules on the title screen, or the ? button in any player's panel while you are playing.
How many can play?
One to four. Nobody passes anything: the iPad lies flat on the table and everybody sits round it, the way you would sit round a board. Each player gets a panel on their own side of the screen, printed the right way up for the seat it belongs to, so nobody reads their own money upside down. One person plays against the computer.
How hard is the computer?
Four settings, and they differ in exactly one thing: how many cards it can hold in mind. Easy remembers three, Medium five, Hard seven and Monster nine. It only ever remembers cards that everybody at the table has seen turned over. It does not look at face-down cards and it does not cheat.
Can we stop in the middle and come back?
Yes. The game saves itself as you play. Close it, come back whenever, and Resume game is on the title screen with the players and the booths left as they were.
How do we turn the music off?
Tap the ♪ button in a player's panel, or open Settings on the title screen. Sound effects and music are separate switches, so you can keep one and lose the other.
Does it need the internet?
No. Everything is on the iPad. The game checks whether there is a newer version of itself when it opens, and that is the only thing it ever sends.
Does it work on iPhone?
Not yet. Fun Fear is laid out as a board with a seat on each side, and that wants an iPad.
