The Story
One of the whimsically-named 1970s-onwards Davy's wine bar traditions. Two Tappit Hen sites in the record: the original at 5 William IV Street just off Charing Cross (dark by mid-2007 per a contemporaneous Qype/Yelp review, then reopened in 2008 as the natural-wine French bistro Terroirs, which itself closed permanently in the December 2020 COVID lockdowns and made permanent June 2021); and this later Davy's revival at 21-23 St Swithin's Lane in the City, opened July 2019 (per PA Life trade press). The Davy's revival has since exited the room too — the site now houses Bar 1790, a Portuguese/Sandeman-linked wine bar. Close year for the Davy's revival not firmly established (sometime between 2019 and 2022).
