The Story

122 Leadenhall Street had been a pub since at least the Victorian era — known variously as The Vine and The Ship and Turtle Tavern before its final incarnation as the Square Mile. The Ship and Turtle chapter is the most vivid: the pub kept live turtles in water tanks and was run in succession by five widows, each inheriting the licence from the last. The fishpond was eventually covered over to make space for a disco. In its later years it was absorbed into the Vino Veritas chain before closing in 2007, and the building was subsequently demolished.

Ghost Hunter mode reveals 500+ closed and demolished pubs on the PINtPOINT radar — each one a room that once poured pints on that exact street corner.
