The Story
A Whitbreads pub in EC4 recorded in the 1983 CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Known for serving WHITBREAD WETHERED, WINTER ROYAL. Showplace pub with history of printing on the walls and other paraphernalia.
CAMRA's WhatPub records it at 98 Fetter Lane: closed 1 July 2008 and demolished in 2013. The Wild Swan opened a couple of doors along at 99 in April 2026 — a new building on redeveloped ground, not a reopening of this pub, and not the White Swan either, which stood further up at 108 until 2022.
The ground beside it has a pub on it again: the Wild Swan, at 99, from April 2026. Not this one rebuilt, but the nearest thing Fetter Lane has to it.
