The Story
The building dated to 1873 as the Tavistock Hotel. One of David Bruce's original Firkins from the early 1980s, with on-site brewing through 1995. Famously appears in the 1986 cult film Withnail and I — Withnail and Marwood walk past the IRA-graffitied frontage, Courage signage above the door and Trellick Tower visible in the background. Limped on through several rebrands after the brewery closed (Mother Black Cap, Barbushka, Frudruckers, The Tavistock) before closing in 2009 and being demolished in 2010. A modern residential block stands on the site now.
Ghost Hunter mode reveals 500+ closed and demolished pubs on the PINtPOINT radar — each one a room that once poured pints on that exact street corner.
