The Story
The City Boot was a Davy's wine bar at the top of the escalators from Moorgate station, tucked into the Barbican's elevated walkways at 7 Moorfields Highwalk. Unusually for Davy's it was not in a basement, though it was fitted out to feel like a wine cellar all the same: around forty wines, old and new, each with its own tasting note, and plain English food at City lunchtime prices. It traded there for 41 years until it was forced out by the redevelopment of the eastern end of the Barbican in June 2015. Fifteen months later Davy's reopened the name a short walk west, on Bastion Highwalk.
