Browns Bar & Brasserie, 8-10 Old Jewry, City of London
The Story
Browns Bar & Brasserie occupied the former Commonwealth Bank of Australia building at 8-10 Old Jewry, a grand banking hall a minute from Bank. Part of the Mitchells & Butlers estate, with real ale on by August 2011. It closed in 2024 and the room stood empty. The Wild Group - the founders behind the Goodman steakhouses - took the site on and reopened it in 2026 as The Albatross, a seafood pub keeping its shellfish live in tanks. Same building, same doorway, new name.
The name continues. The Albatross Pub carries it forward.
