The Story
Balls Brothers' Carey Lane branch (off Gutter Lane), listed in the 1999 Evening Standard London Pub & Bar Guide — one of the restaurant-with-wine-bar sites in the sprawling City network of 14+ Balls Brothers venues at its peak, heavy on basements, claret and old-school corporate ritual. The original company went into administration in 2010; the name survives in a slimmer modern form.
