A beer earns its place by declaring itself: a name carrying Oktoberfest, Festbier or Wiesn is in. A plain Märzen has to prove it is seasonal rather than a year-round regular, so it is only listed if we have never recorded it outside September and October. That is why Paulaner’s Oktoberfest Märzen appears and Schlenkerla’s smoked Märzen does not.
